Having just watched this and thinking about it for awhile, I don't see any advantage for pattern. Servo matching on aileron and elevator, especially matching elevator halves in a dual elevator servo system, is cumbersome enough without having to do it with a separate programmer and a computer to run it. I've done servo level matching before with Hitec programmable servos, and it is a PITA. Much easier to do it in the transmitter, especially with a 12x or a 14mz. And I don't know how we'd plug in two elevator servos into the terminal box at the back of the airplane in any event. The other thing is that the most sophisticated modern pattern airplane only needs a six channel receiver, and most of the servos plug in with minimal lead lengths. No claim was made for any faster response time, which seems to be an issue for only the heli guys anyway.

I can see some advantages in a giant scale airplane, but anyone who flies one is likely to have more than a basic TX anyway. There is maybe some reduction in clutter, but some giant scale guys fly two receivers for redundancy. The advantage touted by the s.bus system of only having one place to plug things into is also ignoring a single point failure area.

While you can get a decoder so you can use standard servos, that is additional weight. To take full advantage (?) of the system, you need a special Futaba rx, special Futaba servo hub leads, and special Futaba servos. And I'm sure they will be cheaper than anything else out there, NOT!

Just my opinion...
Does anyone see a practical app in pattern airplanes?
