That was the highest recommended for some servos like the Futaba 9402. The 5.7 volt value was the highest value one could regulate to with a five cell pack that was discharged to 5.9 volts. When the Lithium cells came out we went to 6.0 volts to get the highest safe operating voltage and the lowest heat dissipation as stated.
