Hey Anthony,<br>Off list...<br>I got some great suggestions.<br>Orlando is 1200 miles for me...that's a stretch.<br>Houston area is right at 1000.<br>The thing is my sister lives in the Dallas area. 700 something miles from here.<br>I could non-stop that. Spend the night there and then drive on down to the coast.<br>I really never paid much attention to the weather in Austin although, as you probably know, it's<br>a nice place.<br>I've lived all over the place but consider Texas home even though I moved away in 1987...33 years ago!<br>Yikes!<br>My parents are gone now and only my sister remains there.<br>Funny about the winter. I spent the last two years of high school in the mountains...doesn't matter where<br>but learned (had!) to ski. When I came back to go to college I was on the National Ski Patrol a couple years...<br>I was a lot littler then! We are actually thinking about doing a little D4 migration south for a long weekend (short week) of pattern flying. I think someone mentioned Nashville, TN as possible destination but my memory is a little fuzzy. It was in response to my original question; how many hours south do I have to drive to get to decent weather for a few solid days of pattern flying. From Northeastern Ohio we figured a good 10-11 hours should get you to about 70 degrees depending on the time of year. <br></div>

I have an off the wall question for the list.<br>I'm not a winter weather person. That being said I probably <br>couldn't live in a worst place but you have to go where the job is.<br>When we lived in Lincoln it wasn't so bad since there was so much to do there.<br>Since moving to Iowa 5 years ago it's been a different story.<br>OK...enough of John's pity party.<br>I've come up with an idea. I'm thinking about, starting next winter, going south<br>for 5 - 7 days. Somewhere I can get a week long membership in a club, hole up <br>in a Motel 6 and fly for a week...
