I just got the X9309 and promptly opened it up to change the spring tension.

To answer my own questions below.....

Unlike Futaba, (9C) there is no conformal coating on any of the PWBs. I would be concerned about powering up the Tx in cold conditions after leaving a warm vehicle. Also, again unlike Futaba (9C), there was not a sign of lube on any of the Gimbals. The wire runs are a little awkward with wires from two switches at the top of the radio being pinched by the bosses for the screws that hold the case together.

It looks like these are put together pretty quickly with not much time for extras like lubrication/protection for the gimbals. I know that most short term consumer electronics are not CC'd but I would not have expected that of a $700 product.

--- On Fri, 4/18/08, colin chariandy <cchariandy@yahoo.ca> wrote:

I don't want to start a JR vs Futaba war but I've been looking for a 2.4GHz, 2048 radio system and find the 9309 priced way below the closest Futaba radio offering those features, the 12FG. Now I agree that the Futaba is a 12 channel compared to 9 channels of the X9309 but is that worth $600?

What am I missing?

What quality items are not included in the JR radio?

Some have said that the gimbals in the 9309 are not very good.

I'm trying to decide before the "free reciver" deal runs out at the end of the month so any help is appreaciated.

Thanks
