though I'm not overly applying the solder anymore. It had been about 20 years

the plating where the wire will be soldered (Use a good solder with a
little silver in it - I like Deans racing solder). The gold plating
prevents oxidation (which is resistive) on the connecting surfaces.

wont fit the socket. But I hate to drill them open since they are
