earned by an average score for four matches that places the shooter in the next
higher class. Advancement is then mandatory. Records of scores are
kept by the NRA. (Funny what can get done with a membership of almost 4
million.)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>I have seen many shooters whose objective was to qualify
for the next higher classification, knowing full well that their placement in
matches was going to be near the bottom for a long time, until they had "paid
their dues" enough to be competitive. Still, moving up was a badge of
honor; and, while sandbagging wasn't unknown, it was an exceptionally minor
problem, with the sandbagger usually dropping out of the sport after a
relatively short period of time. Lacking ambition to
improve.............................. seems to show a lack of motivation for the
sport, overall.</FONT></DIV>

“Qualify” our flying ability to jump to the next class. Rather than just

(For sake of argument Master class fliers) judge an advance fliers ability
to fly the masters schedule and the flier must pass a 65% total raw score
averaged across 3 judges 4 flights to step up to the next class.
Wouldn’t this be better than just pointing out? Wouldn’t this give the pilot
more incentive to do better? Wouldn’t it keep a flier where his skill set
placed him? I’ll admit I’ve not thought the whole idea out from beginning to
end. Looking at some of the Japanese sites they do something like this.
The flier can be practicing the next class up once he becomes
comfortable with his current class. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
