This particular airplane is NOT covered with
Monokote, but uses the same material as is used on the Quest and the Leo and I
suspect may be made by the same fabricator. The stuff is not Ultrakote either
and has some very specific characteristics unlike other films. The film
itself appears to be quite strong, in that, if you take a piece of it in your
hands and try to pull it apart, you probably won't be able to. The adhesive
appears to have the color mixed in and if you have to peel a piece from the
surface, you will pull off a piece of virtually clear film with the coloration
still stuck to the wood. So the adhesion of the mass itself is mostly good on a
wooden surface, but the irritating thing about the stuff is that it does not
like to stick to itself ( to the degree that it's almost repulsed). So you will
find that you will be frequently occupied trying to restick the trim all over
the model, and not just where there is fuel exposure. On my quest I had to peel
off some strips and replace them with Moneykote.

These aircraft seem to possess relatively good flight
characteristics and it's too bad they have to use this film material
which spoils their desirability.

monokote job is new, meaning put down well with an iron, one way to keep it
that way is to spray it with a coat of polyu clear. The 2 part variety like

organic solvent. Let it cure for a few days. You may scuff the monokote
slightly with 2000 paper used wet but isn't necessary.

My only comment about the plane is the covering material. I have had
trouble with the covering lifing up. I have tried using thin CA around
the covering edges - didn't help. I have tried adding balsarite adhesive
under the covering - doesn't work. Maybe others have better luck or
better process than I have.
