I had the misfortune of getting bad rolls of
monocote a couple years ago. It was almost like working with aluminum foil. I
was covering a 24% Extra and pulled it all off to do it again. It wouldn't stick
well, looked like sand was under it and it wouldn't work around curves.

I bought at the same shop at about the same time were OK.

style="FONT-SIZE: 12px">Similar experience here...just finishing up a Carden
Cap 232 (yes, for those who know me...it’s Black/Yellow/White and
Silver...just shut up already. I’m red/green colorblind!) I have
used both 25’ and 6’ rolls of those colors all bought recently with no
difference from the older rolls I had that were several years old. All
went on with the same iron settings (I use different irons that I never
change) and all seem to have the same basic “feel” for working around shapes.
I keep hearing about the new formula, but have yet to experience
it.

-Mark

On 2/19/07 12:55 PM, "JonLowe@aol.com"

style="FONT-SIZE: 12px">For those of you scared of the "new" Monokote, I
just did my Black Magic wings and tail with it, from fresh stock I picked up
at the local hobby shop. I had no problems with any of it, and I used
two rolls of white, and a roll each of missile red, purple, and yellow.
Went on just like any Monokote I've ever used, at normal temperatures.
I discussed the bad stuff with the owner who is pretty straight with
me, and he said he hadn't had any complaints over the last year or two at
all. Maybe the problem is over?

FWIW.

Jon
