I've got quite a bit of in-flight data from the
full blown data logger with telemetry. It is an excellent way of keeping
track of your batteries especially on a new plane. I had a helper watching
the mAh used while I was flying so I wouldn't exceed 80% of the capacity.
After a number of flights I found the consumption was very consistent from
flight to flight and I eventually could see I could depend on time of
flight to predict battery usage. The peak current is normally slightly
lower than that during the run-up on the ground before taking off. The
current graphs are very interesting. I find I'm only over 40 amps for
about 8 seconds at a time and then well below 40 for the next 10 to 30
seconds. The average Watts during a flight is about 900 so the motor and
ESC stay quite cool.

like a good way to track how much of your batteries you are using in
flight. I'm also wodering about if there is a significant difference
between current measured on the ground and in the air.

Ed
