<DIV><FONT size=2>If you follow the safety precautions, your chance of haing a
LiPo burn is low. If you don't follow the safety precautions you might as
well light a match.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>The average cell phone has a LiPo in it. The phine has
safety circuitry to prevent overcharge and overdischarge. The rate of
charge is controlled and the rate of discharge is relatively slow. Even
with that, people have managed to make cell phones burn.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>We put more "stresses" on a LiPo when we use it in a model
aircraft than what you put on a LiPo in the average cell phone and we don't have
the safety circuitry to prevent overgharging permanently attached to every
battery. We don't want the weight or cost of that circuitry to be
permanently attached to each pack either.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>So... we have to read the instructions, make sure the chargers
are set correctly and monitor the battery charging.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>I could not find the safety instructions on the Duralite web site.

<DIV>Here the safety instructions from Fromeco web site:</DIV>

<DIV>The problem I have is that I don't have time to baby sit while the
battery are charging. I try to do it with my small electric planes and I
can not imagine babysitting all my planes while charging. Probably
this is the only issue I have in regard lithium batteries. Do we
really need to follow this instructions? If not, the manufactures will
need to take the risk and take those instructions out from the web
sites.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#000000 size=2>I am apprehensive to go Li-Poly
due to the packaging and possibility of damage and fire. The Li-Ion is in a

a NiCad or Ni-Mh packs so you gain a weight savings and they need less
maintenance than the aforementioned battery types. </FONT></DIV>
