rods come in a re-sealable tube and have a small wire cleaning brush included. I
couldn’t resist giving this a shot so I did the following tests:<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

a left over section of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">AL</st1:place></st1:State>
stab tube, brushed it well with the included wire brush, put it in a vice,
and heated the Al tube with my torch (Butane?? – typical blue bottle
torch). Remembering the video off the website, I heated up the <st1:State
w:st="on">AL</st1:State> tub section for less than a minute and then
started rubbing the Duraflux rod over the surface of the <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">AL</st1:place></st1:State> tube section. After a few
passes the rod began melting and “flowing” like in the video. Seemed
to work OK.<o:p></o:p></span></font></li>
<li class=MsoNormal style='color:navy;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><font size=2
color=navy face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>Next
I took a Bud Light AL-bottle/can and held it in the vice. I made NO
attempt to clean the bottle lip with the brush. I then used the same
torch to heat up the bottle/can, made some passes with the rod, and again,
the rod flowed nicely onto the bottle lip section. <o:p></o:p></span></font></li>

cool down I took some large pliars and tried to peal off the newly added
sections of Durafix. I could not get the Durafix to peal-off either

12.0pt'>I've had similar experience. There's a knack to using it that I
haven't picked up. My joints are functional but ugly. Often there is some
porosity. I have used it on 4-stroke exhaust to repair pipes and repair a
slimline Pitt's muffler on a YS140. 4-stroke exhaust temps are no
problem. <br>

One problem I have using it is getting and keeping the temperature right, too
cold it doesn't flow (probably why I get porosity), not very much hotter and
the aluminum gets soft. One thing I haven't tried that might be helpful
is to use one of those non-contact temperature guns. It would have to go
to 800 F or better.<br>
