<DIV style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif;"><DIV>Some of the D2 contest do this. Don and I fly two sportsman sequences per if the contest/weather allows for it. We had the largest turn out that I can remember this year (Thanks everyone) and with 20+ MPH cross winds with rotors over the runwya on landing. we limited sportsman to one sequence per flight. None of the sportsman complained, the winds where a higher than any of them had practiced in before. I think they were just happy to finish and not lose any planes in the process.</DIV>

<DIV>Everyone is correct about not trying it for intermediate... It would take too long. The whole idea behind it is to get more flying time for Sportsman pilots. When I started flying pattern, I passed on flying Sportsman and started in Intermediate, simply because I wasn't about to drive 350-500 miles to fly for 20 minutes.... Also, it's good exposure for the Sportsman pilot to get as much flying time as possible in front of judges... They get a lot of feedback and support from the judges and fellow flyers that they may well not get at there home field...</DIV>
<DIV>You learn more flying in a contest than you ever do just practicing without observers. So far, it's worked very well here in D8. We normally only get 3 rounds per day any how.... To tell you the truth, I don't believe we've had any issue on 2 day vs 1 day contests. We always run a 2 day contest and the Sportsman get 12 rounds of flying... They like it! </DIV>

<DIV><BR></DIV>Lance: It IS workable, we have been doing it for the better part of 20<BR>years. Not for ALL classes, just Sportsman.<BR>We make sure this class gets 4 rounds each day, weather permitting, of<BR>course. We announce a winner Saturday night at the dinner, and present<BR>the award. In 2005, for our 50th, we even gave away a gold watch to each<BR>day's winners. In this case, we stipulated that the same person could not<BR>win both days.
