'Doctor Science' is correct: cold air is more dense. If it wasn't, a hot air
balloon wouldn't work. All else being equal, you'll find that your needle will
be a couple of clicks richer in the cold weather. Also, because the air is more
dense and you're adding more fuel, you'll make more power. Kind of like having a
"natural" supercharger. You shouldn't see a big difference in 5-10 degree
temperature changes though. Going from 35-40 degrees in the Winter to 75-80
degrees in the Summer is when you notice the condition. Make sure everything
else is OK. </FONT></SPAN></DIV>

the air is more dense in the winter. Cold air equals more fuel needed to
keep the same air/fuel ratio. In the summer the air is thinner so you
need to take some fuel away (lean it out) or you will be running very
rich.<BR><BR>Hope that helps<BR><BR>Dan<BR><BR>Dist 1<BR><BR>Ken Thompson

[NSRCA-discussion] Hot</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Hey everyone. A question just popped in my mind today.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>First off, YS140DZ, on my Prestige, running great and powerful prior
to today. Although the temp has been 70-90.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Today 95 degrees and idle, as well as transition just all of a sudden
seems to change. Am aware heat changes everything from flying
characteristics to lift to how an engine can run. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Soooo, do I lean the idle and top end or have to richen it
up some?? Or nothing.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Just curious on opinions.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>thanx</DIV>
