It not just a matter of swelling with a YS
silicone diaphragm. If they go soft and spongy they also behave badly. A tip
- you need to look at the diaphragm immediately after you remove it
from the motor. If it is "belled" or distorted you could well have a bad
one. I said immediately because they go back to a flat shape quite quickly
when not inside of the pump.

face=sans-serif size=2>Not sure of YS engines but most 2-stroke engine pumps
have a diaphram made of teflon coated glass, which is fine with the acetone,
but silicone fuel tubing will be deteriorated, as will any othe silicone
part (if any) in your engine. Viton will resist acetone okay
(o-rings). Big problem may be volatility as acetone will boil at about 40C
(note that I converted for your benefit) which is way lower than the other
components in fuel. If Acetone works and is not damaging your engine seals
(use gasoline tubing) try Methy-ethyl Ketone (MEK), more expensive, much
less volatile (one more carbon in the molecule). Next up the chain is
methy-isopropyl Ketone, which is a difficult product to obtain in the USA at
a hardware store....gotta go to Fisher chemical.
<FONT

available pure Methanol or a methanol product 'Shell A' which has 3% Acetone

acetone into my fuel mix ( I buy pure Methanol) and I'm not sure if I could
