getting so popular.... got to have'em so you can put a big enough fuel tank in
them.

I was getting ready to update my experiment with the 33 oz coke
bottle filled with fuel 30%. I let it sit and shrink for 2 months, then when it
appeared to stop shrinking I removed the fuel and carefully measured the
volume. The bottle started life as 33 oz,1 liter and now holds 24 oz
liquid. Which is perfect for a thirsty 160 DZ with a 4 blade prop.I have it in
my Smaragd and will fly (test) tomorrow. Should work fine and no more
shrinking.

FUEL TANK

FYI... I had a conversation with a flying friend the other
day about the
soda bottle fuel tanks and the way they shrink. He
happens to work for
Pepsi and explained to me that the bottles are blow
molded. He said if they
are not used with in a certain period of
time that the memory in the plastic
takes over and they will shrink in
size and then they have to discard the
old bottles. The carbonized
soda keeps the shape of the bottle till used.
He said that most likely
the nitro content speeds up the process and could
explain why some of you
using them with higher then 15% nitro are
experiencing this
phenomenon.
So.... drink another one.... rinse and fill.

Wayne
