size=2>I was thinking the same thing so I had a look at the list server and
it
turns out I had made a configuration mistake in tightening up
the
security on my DNS configuration. The mailing list server uses
several
DNS checks on inbound messages to help cut down the spam traffic
and I
had neglected to allow recursive DNS queries from the list
server. As a
result the list server was returning a temporary error
for incoming
messages for a while. No messages should have been lost
because of the
nature of the temporary (400 series) error, instead the
servers trying
to hand off messages should have queued them for retry and
they should
be filtering in.

Sorry about that - hopefully folks used
the lack of distraction to make
some balsa dust or Monokote scraps fly
:)

--
Tom
