[NSRCA-discussion] Question for the all knowing NSRCA list..... (not about pattern)

I have a question of the NSRCA universe. I have a friend who has a Nexa 1870mm Twin Otter with 3748-600Kv motors, 60 Amp or 65Amp BasAss Speed controllers, and an odd problem. The motors for throttle control are connected to a Y harness. The power leads to the batteries are independent. For all the following tests, we only tried one motor at a time and, for safety, without props. The RH always ran fine, even when we switched which Y harness the motor was connected to. So, on the LH motor…. It always exhibited the same of two behaviors. After initialization, when going to full power, the motor would sit at a high idle and then spool up to full after about 2 to 3 seconds. It never drew the same amperage as the RH side. First, I recalibrated the throttle and when it still had that lag, I reset the motor acceleration back to normal (I think – listening to beeps is not as easy as a computer controller). Next, I swapped out the ESC (also BadAss) and the lag was still present. So, I hooked that second ESC to a different motor (also 3748-600Kv). That motor did not even start until the throttle stick was advanced past the halfway point, and the current draw was smaller than any other full power reading. Hooking the second motor to the original ESC still in the plane exhibited the same behavior… nothing until after the halfway point. It is possible that my friend did something to the ESCs he did not intend, and I can put it back to the factory default, but anyone have any other thoughts? Maybe something else we can try?
Regards,
Mike C
