[NSRCA-discussion] EDF pattern for 2021; D7 method?

Dan/Jim,   Attached is the sequence for "EDF Precision", found on your D7 fb page under "Files".  I spoke with Tony F., and several others a couple of years ago about EDF Pattern before the F3S group even had an EDF sequence, as they were mostly focused on turbines.  He was already flying EDF at his contest and I wanted to do the same for D2.  He shared this sequence, which helped D2 develop our own also, called Blast Off".  Later on, the F3S guys finally came up with their version of EDF.  Just a little of the history.  As far as what to fly going forward, that has to be the CD's decision, although there's merit in standardizing on something.

Hey Jim,I did not get the copied email from Bill Wallace, but assume that the sequences referenced are the ones I consider "standard/official" on www.jetaerobatics.org.  True?Where are these local rules and sequences that you refer to?  I looked on nsrca.us and under the D7 page on that site, but find no mention of edf.As for the upcoming D7 Arizona contests:  there is no mention of EDF for the Feb 27th contest put on by Gary Switala.John Bentley's event listing says that EDF will be flown and to let him know if interested.  When I did he notified me that we will fly the sequence on jetaerobatics.orgRegards, Dan

NSRCA Leadership,
Hope all is well.  To the point:  When was this decision made below?  Did anyone review the District 7 EDF pattern and “local” rules in place, making it a successful class?
The sequence we are flying is already proven as being; fun, skill-appropriate, 80-90 mm capable on 6S, and perhaps best, is a mix of old-school flying style with off-the-shelf foam jets.  It’s not an arms race (yet) with 6S being the limit.
Please share some of the decision making and insight into this decision.  Welcome all respectful thought and input.

Thank You,Jim W.

 Guys:
You are getting this email because you showed interest last year in flying EDF Jets at a contest.  There has been a change in the pattern we are going to fly this year.  The NSRCA has decided to get involved and promote the flying of EDF's at our contests this year.  As a result, they would like everyone to fly the same pattern, and since the FAI has already published a pattern for EDF, the NSRCA has decided to use that pattern.  Now there are 2 patterns attached to this email, an EDF and a basic.  The EDF is the one we are going to use most of the time, however, if there are pilots that are not familiar with pattern and are not comfortable flying the EDF sequence, we may offer the Basic sequence as well.  But for the first 2 contests in Arizona and my contest in Hemet, we will be offering the EDF sequence for sure.  Please download the EDF sequence and start practicing.  I'm sorry for the short notice on this, but the decision was made just recently.  Any questions, give me a call, and if you can think of anyone else that needs to know, forward them this email.  Thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone in Arizona.
