Hello all,

I would like to pass the last communications I had with Jim with some
history too. I met Jim at the Nats. I just checked Don Ransey's web page
http://donramseypattern.com/ because I cannot remember all the details. We
met the first time at the Nats in 2001. We were flying Advanced together.
I remember that we spoke in Spanish a lot because he just wanted to help
me. We communicated mainly by email after that. His spanish was excellent
as he was on anything related with our hobby. After that we flew the same
plane (Abbra) and we shared a lot of information about trimming and
adjusting the plane. I saw Jim back in the Nats in 2003. He flew Masters
and I was flying Advance at the 2003 Nats. Based on Nats information we
flew at the Nats the last time in 2006. I was flying Masters and Jim was
flying FAI-F3a. Then this year I have the chance to go to a contest in
Arizona. As soon I registered in the contest Jim sent me the following
messager:

Vicente - we are off to a good start. See you next week !!
I responded:
Yes, I am in Albuquerque. Final drive to Mesa tomorrow. Looking forward to
seeing you.

When I saw him he was so happy and gave me a big hug. Same we finish the
contest the next day. It was a pleasure to share some of my life with
Jim. He was a great person.

Vicente "Vince" Bortone
