[NSRCA-discussion] Aircraft carriers

I own a pacifica. I believe the pacifica-limited is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have owned all kinds-custom suburban, limited ford expedition, Cadillac, 2 full size vans, etc. It is the best riding, driving car I have ever owned. The interior, seats, and fit and finish are second to none. It gets great gas mileage and is a great comfortable ride. The fold down seats make it an excellent aircraft carrier. Two planes and all your gear are a slam dunk. Or 2 pilots and a plane each with all your gear, easy. 3 people and a plane and all your stuff easy. I think it is not bad looking either.

John,
The Pacifica is NOT like a Dodge Caravan. I had one, and it served me well, but didn't compare to the Pacifica. If a person is dead set against a "MiniVan" then yes, the Pacifica is still a minivan. I have not owned one, but have ridden on one, and a Durazngo is also NOT at all similar to a Pacifica. Since I am no longer interested in attacting teenie-boppers, I don't care if my minivan looks like a minivan. It also matters not a whit to me what Anthjony buys or drives, I was just putting in the word about the Pacifica not being like the Dodge Caravan, Durango, nor the Chrysler T & C. It is a real step up from those three -- as is the MSRP, of course...

Vince + Phil,
Yeah but it’s till a “minivan”. I had a Dodge Caravan until I discovered that a Durango can hold 2 pattern planes without moving either of the 2 front seats into an uncomfortable position. Durangos get about the same mileage as what you’re getting with the added advantage of AWD. In the northeast, that’s a big plus.

I will second Vicente's nomination of the Pacifica. While it is a "minivan" it does not drive like one. Over the years, we have had two
Buick Park Avenues, a Town & Country, and a host of other vehicles. The Pacifica is by far the most comfortable vehicle we have ridden in, and my wife almost prefers driving it to her Ford Fusion. We typically get about 25 mpg over all, including some driving in Knoxville, and some on suburban roads. I get 29 mpg on highway trips. Also, it is much better looking than your average minivan.
On the other hand, if you are really serious about an aircraft carrier, I have a great flying buddy who served 6 years on the Enterprise, right after it was commissioned. It is being towed to Hanford, WA, to rermove the 2 reactors, so you'd have to get an engine for it, but I'll bet you could buy it for a bargain price!!

The Pacifica great. I can’t get 2 pattern planes, the electronic scoring equipment, everything I need tools, generator and more important my wife with all her stuff. I can’t describe how much is that. I can’t fit all that in any other car. Besides that, I also can fit 2 IMAC 35% planes. The only huge problem is that is NOT sexy. With tail wind more than 30 mph. If you like to be green get the hybrid.

Acura MDX has worked well for
Me. Don’t think I can get 2 Parten planes in it but one fits with room to spare - and it’s ride is quite nice and nearly 30MPG on the highway.

Never really looked at the Flex. Just couldn’t get past it’s looks. I have the XC 90. Possible to fit 2 planes but tight. Generator would have to go in the front seat. Never compared it to the XC60 or V models.
Nice features and ride on the Volvo.
For pattern room I still like my last vehicle the Honda Pilot. Generator will fit behind the front seat (Volvo has non removable rear headrests that take up too much space when folded down.)

Hello pattern pilots,
After 196k miles my Sienna is worn out and after 18+ years of driving mini vans I am done with those too. Contests are rarely big travel weekends any more and I never bring more than one plane so the reduction in space shouldn't be an issue. Now looking at a Ford Flex or Volvo V60. Does anyone have any experience with either of these or a similar alternative?
Thanks,
Anthony
