[NSRCA-discussion] 2020 NATS Input

I guess this is good news. I just saw on the TV that the Indiana governor is going fully reopen Indiana by July 4. Including restaurants and large gatherings like fairs. Seems that bodes well for the Nats going forward.

What is the situation with hotels and restaurants? We need to understand that we got high % of pilots could be considered high risk because of age alone. Yes, I am one. One way to mitigate the risk is having hotels and restaurants that somehow get 100% test certification and specific proceses to reduce the risk. I haven’t seen that yet. Airlines are leading in that process.

I will go to the NATS if they keep them. Ditto for Joseph.

I think any polls being done should also include versions of the yes or no with yes cancel Nats if I were to go and no keep the Nats if I were to go. A quick glance and the polls show pilots/people that probably weren’t going or even competitors. I will go to the Nats if they keep them.

Archie,

I set up a Facebook pool for D3 and the trend so far is for cancellation, with a reschedule in the fall. The poll runs until the next board meeting. The scale NATS were already cancelled by NASA and their event was the week before ours.

I will start by saying I hope that everyone and their families are hanging in there during this tough.

As many of you know, the AMA has decided to wait until June 10 to make a final decision about the NATS, however that is after the initial registration deadline. The NSRCA board is trying to decide if we should make a decision prior to that. I'm asking those that would consider going to chime in to let us know your thoughts. Unfortunately, the NATS are an expensive event for the NSRCA and financial thoughts need to come into play as well. It would not be financially practical for the NSRCA to put on a NATS with only a handful of pilots.

If you are planning on going, or even on the fence, please chime in with your thoughts. If you have no intentions of going please state that before you make any comments. The board really wants your help on making a proper decision.

If the NATS are canceled, we will work to have a team trial for FAI pilots who want to try and make the team for the 2021 Worlds held in Muncie.

Thanks,

Arch
