[NSRCA-discussion] Power points

Clarity of thought is much needed in our process…Dave clearly illustrates this. Why is it Dave is no longer on the Sequence Committee? It seems a huge loss that he is not.

Volatility in leadership is not surprisingly problematic.... At the BOD level and at the committee level. The membership of the Seq Com was also volatile. Nonetheless, simply adhering to the Seq Doc guidelines posted on the Nsrca website would have alleviated most if not all of controversy over the recent sequences.

To recall, we have not heard from anyone on the Seq Com aside from Stu, who seemed to be interested in working within guidelines, but also was an outlier in the group. Seems to me we will continue to have problems unless we make an effort to adhere to what we have documented...and need to increase the effort to document and pass along knowledge as the leadership changes.

Regards,

Dave

The point of pulling the sequences out of the AMA rule book was to allow for them to be changed more frequently and thus avoid having the contest board be involved. The process has worked just fine ever since they were removed but some oversight over the controls that were put in place were lacking – that has now been corrected and hopefully it will work better going forward.

The bigger issue (root cause) for all of this is that there hasn’t been any stable NSRCA leadership for a number of years to see this process move forward from one cycle to the next. I was the last President to actually serve a full 2 term cycle (4 years) – ever since then, the executive leadership has not stayed in place for longer than 2 years. One loses a lot of tribal knowledge when the leadership continues to change as often as it has.

We have voted in the past I believe when there was more than one sequence to chose from for each class.

Frankly, I think the sequences should require final approval through the AMA Contest Board like in the past.

I haven't been too happy with how the process has gone the last several years.

We have NEVER put the sequences up for membership vote. They are reviewed and commented on by the membership but the final vote, as specified in our sequence development guidelines, has always been by the NSRCA BoD.

Sorry Joe, the AMA rule book trump's the charter. It REQUIRES the membership to vote on them. I've sent you the appropriate language from the AMA rule book at least twice. Until we vote, they cannot be implemented by the board.

Good morning guys, the board reviewed everything last night and will publish the final sequences this week. Just so we are all on the same page, the official approval process is listed below (Directly from the charter) and is on the website for everyone to review if you're so inclined.

The Power Points are being produced right now by Jim Hiller (Thanks Jim!)

Thanks!

We haven't voted on the sequences yet. Until we do, assuming they pass, the board can't implement them. Anything now is unofficial. At this point, AFAIK, the sequences to vote on haven't been finalized.
