I'm in full support of Mike, Don, and Al. A board meeting (any executive board) is where innovative ideas go to die.

AMEN. Any changes in format should have been blessed by the NSRCA BoD with input from the membership months ago. It's still not clear to me (and apparently Al Glenn) who the ED is. If it was changed, by whom and when?
I anxiously await BoD input here.

I really don't have a steak on the grill here, however I feel everyone has had good points, and some points that maybe are being misunderstood, or misconstrued. I am hopping that during the Exec meeting this week, these can get ironed out or at least most
of them, and then everyone will be on the same page. It seems to me that all of these issues, and or ideas should have been ironed out months ago, and not being discussed almost a month away from the event.

That was my thought exactly Dave.
Go, fly, embrace the new experience and see what happens. It's about the friendships anyway.
Just don't be #11 Mr. Irrelevant (Mark ur cracking me up).

I thought the point of Blytheville was to try a different locale. I don't remember anyone saying the content would be different. Changing locale is a big step by itself, and this year there is a lot to be learned.
The situation regarding motorhomes is a case in point, and we've got 25 competitors scrambling. Other changes to conduct of the Nats should be by competitor input, with careful consideration by the NSRCA BoD.

Thanks Gary,
I do understand the discontent, however, the point is to make it a quality
event. I am going under the assumption you read my explanation for all this.
If you consider the caliber of judging when you basically have 8 rounds of
finals-masters,fai- in 1 day, how do you maintain quality of judging?
The quality of flying is very high yet it is ok to use unexperienced
haphazard judges? You yourself complained about how much money time and
effort you are going to spend doing this but you are willing to take
whatever is available for judges? Doesn't make sense.
That is what has happened in the past.
You are upset because you can't fly 2 more flights after having flown 8
flights not counting all the practice flights.
This is not a marathon event. The purpose is to select the best pilot to
the best of our ability. 8 flights should be enough.
I cannot promise you the best judges even under this new system but it is
important to try something else.
Regards,
Mike

I have communicated with many entrants for the NATS this year that are not
happy with the plan for the finals in masters and FAI ..
I guess i get to be the poster boy for discontent over this ...
IE it seems you are not taking suggestions or input from a general
membership ...
While many appreciate the effort it takes to run an event like this the
notion of cutting off the finals to two rounds and flying FAI in the
afternoon seems off base for many reasons ...
I do appreciate your effort and hard work and wish you to reconsider these
plans ...
The legacy of the event is after all in your hands
