[NSRCA-discussion] 31st Roadrunner Classic in Albuquerque on September 17-18

It’s time for the 31^st Roadrunner Pattern Classic in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. This year we moved the Roadrunner to the fall contest date and
combined the fall Classic with the Roadrunner on September 17 and 18 at
the RMFM club field. We’ve included the Watermelon Cup that was
traditionally part of the Fall Classic.

The Watermelon Cup is separate from the normal contest and is a one
flight unknown contest flown first thing Sunday morning. The sequences
are handed out after flying on Saturday and are somewhat harder than the
advanced sequence. Results are calculated on the average score per
maneuver including K-factor. There are bonus points for all classes
except F3A. The bonus system seems to work reasonably well as winners
have come from Advanced, Masters and F3A plus an intermediate came in
second one year. There is no charge and the winner gets his name
engraved on the permanent trophy and bragging rights for a year.

The field has two geotex runways one 600 feet and the other 500 feet,
oriented to be able to fly away from the sun all day long. In September
the winds are typically quite reasonable. We’ve had some trouble with
the access road this year and it will not be possible to get large motor
homes to the field parking lot. There are RV parks not far away and the
Casino has a free parking lot for RVs( no hookups).

See Don Ramsey's site or the listing on the NSRCA site for the flyer and
for more info contact John Gayer(contact info on the flyer)
