As another method of checking both systems, if you are running a radio with battery telemetry, I simply take note that my RX battery is getting 6v when I turn my switch (regulated to 6v) on, and then reads 6.2v when I plug in the batteries (BEC is set to 6.2).

Well I had already cut off the switch and soldered (shorted) the leads before seeing this post from Peter. Sure enough, there was no BEC output with the 10s pack plugged in. Now after cutting off the soldered short, I have BEC power to Rx and the ESC arms/works. Like most, I too run a backup source about a 1/2 volt less than primary (saved at least one plane for me already) and will use the power up sequence that Patrick Harris described.
Thanks all for the input!

Cut it off, that's fine. But DO NOT SOLDER THE WIRES. The switch controls only the BEC portion of the ESC and is a normally closed switch opening the switch turns the BEC on. So just cut the switch off and keep the wire stubs insulated from each other to leave the BEC on.

Are there any good reasons for leaving this switch on the Mezon Lite ESC?
I use an external disconnect (4mm bullet) to arm the ESC. Not really sure
what this switch is for so in the past have just turned it on and zip-tied
it out of sight. Can I just cut the thing off and solder the two wires
together? Can't see carrying around the weight and/or possibility (albeit
slim) of one more component that might fail. Thanks for any insight-
