We're now less than two weeks from the Peach Pattern Classic at Hodges
Field, Andersonville, GA. We have use of one of the best (if not the best)
flying site in the country. We have the state-of-the-art scoring system.
We have everything, EXCEPT contestants.

Right now, we only have ten registered pilots. I was hopeful things were
getting better in D3 with 19 pilots coming to Ocala. Unfortunately, we
dropped to 12 at Eglin, and Andersonville is looking like it may be even
smaller. We are at risk of losing this contest in the future if the turn
out is low. Here in D3, we can't afford to lose any more contests. We're
currently down to six scheduled contests, including the District
Championship. So, if you are a D3 pattern pilot and can possibly make it
to Andersonville, please come and support the contest. And, If you are in
another district and can attend, we'd love to have you too.

I just got back from the Atchafalaya Basin contest in Baton Rouge, LA.
They had 32 pilots show up. I'd like to see D3 contests getting back up to
that number. I'm trying to recruit some new pilots from here in the
Florida Panhandle, but that effort won't pay off until next year, at the
earliest.

If this e-mail sounds like a distress call, that's because it is. Right
now, D3 appears to be in a graveyard spiral of low turn out and contest
losses.
