Yep, Jon, Giezendanner carbon button pot wipers -- I changed them out in all my servos in 79-80. Made things a bit easier in my Heathkit radios -- basically Kraft but in a DIY format. I learned a LOT building those 3 radio systems. 

I never knew how to pronounce Giezendanner's name until I saw the clip on the '71 WCs...

Until Giezendanner (sp?) pots came along, it was normal to change servo pots every 25-50 flights. Talk about maintenance! Engine bearings every other week, crappy wood props that you MIGHT get 4 good ones out of a box of 6. 500mah NiCds if you were lucky. But the open gimbal transmitter sticks; nothing as good as them until the latest CNC stick assemblies. 

I saw a lot of the top flyers of the day at the Wright Brothers Memorial in Dayton, OH. Typically over 100 pattern contestants spread over 4 flight lines. Amazing times.
