Yep! *I* once flew a micro BlackMagic in an approaching tornado in Lexington, KY. The winds were reported to be in the neighborhood of 78-85 knots (not MPH). The specially-built mciro BM was exceptionally light. It did get blown around a bit, but I was able to bore through the winds and complete the pattern.

This is a first: a Pattern contest cancelled because of wind! I remember flying a Super Kaos 40 at the Oasis contest back in 2004 DURING a Hurricane! What is the world coming to? LOL

I've decided to cancel the pattern contest scheduled for this weekend, 27-28 June, Eglin AFB, FL because of forecast rain and high winds. The rain is expected to clear up mid-morning on Saturday. However, after the rain stops, winds are forecast to rise, with gusts (according to Accuweather) exceeding 25 mph. The forecast wind direction is almost a pure crosswind, making landings very tricky. 





I apologize for the inconvenience. Hopefully if you have a motel reservation, you will be able to get a full refund.
