Yes, I have a good copy and I was going to send it to you if you didn’t have one.

I don’t know whether I have a copy of the 1968 American Aircraft Modeler, but it’s possible. Why do you ask? Was this the one with my article about the Ascender (R/C canard aircraft) I built?

  Only in the water.

Seriously, we haven’t had any sharks which caused problems in forever. I’ve been here since 1972 and there haven’t been any since I’ve been here. I did see some dolphins surface in a bayou shortly after I got here and thought they were sharks. When I mentioned it, the locals laughed themselves silly.

BTW, Rob didn’t mention it, but we fly from a north-south runway, but unlike many fields with north-south runways, we fly from both sides of the runway, so the sun is not an issue. There are two sets of center and box poles on each side of the runway.

The famous Gulf Coast beaches are only a few miles away, so wives/kids can enjoy a day at the beach while the competition is on. Y’all come on over/down.

Just a reminder, the Emerald Coast Beachcomber Pattern Classic will be held June 27th and 28th at Eglin AFB, Test Site C-3, just north of Niceville, Florida. This will be the last contest in the Southeast prior to the NATS, so here is an opportunity to sharpen your skills prior to the main event.

Entry Fee is $35 and it includes lunch on Saturday. The field will be available for practice on Friday, June 26th. Pilots' meeting is 0830 and flying will begin at 0900.

Jason Shulman is coming, so FAI is shaping up to be good event.

I am also offering an unofficial pre-sportsman class for sport flyers with no previous contest experience. The simplified sequence for pre-sportsman can be found on the Eglin Aero Modellers' website: http://eglinaeromodellers.org/?p=home Entry fee for pre-sportsman is only $5 and lunch on Saturday is included. So, encourage some of your sport flyers to come along and give this a try!

See you all on the 27th.
