One of the other things to consider is those servos may actually be used for a different target market.  For example maybe they are used in a certain class of Heli or something and they work around some of those dimensions because I think it is safe to assume the there are other portions of the hobby that are bigger then pattern (sorry, don't hurt me for saying that).
The other thing that all of the u.s. importers struggle with is the Japanese market vs the u.s. market.  They sometimes don't think we need certain things because they don't use them or do it a different way.
The third thing is sometimes they just don't know there is an issue until we start speaking up.  I see that Scott and Mike mentioned they have put it in the reports that we send futaba, I will try and do the same.

Also, I did a little research and you may consider the S9670SV servo.  The
dimensions are the same and only $30 from Tower

Several of us have been using the BLS551 servos for ailerons.  It says that
they're car servos but have been working great in the airplanes. The
S9670SV says "car" as well but it may be a possibility for you.
