Many thanks to Jason for "capturing the moment".

We've put 100 percent of our effort in training, coaching, flying. Over the past month, Joseph had two practice sessions a day (mom takes him out in the morning I take him out in the evening) and the wonderful flying site at NVRC with every flight closely critiqued. Thanks Dave Lockhart, thanks Steve Insalaco, Dave Stoddard, Jason, JP, Mark and many others for all the coaching. We thank the AMA for its support of US FAI teams and for the NSRCA- and all of you reading this. We would not be here at this event without your support. Not just all our friends from D2, but all the districts through fundraising and support to the F3A team (we have some shirts left, by the way, and Marc says there are lots of raffle ticket opportunities to purchase).
Thanks again,
Don

GREAT START for Team USA!!! Joseph leads his group in round 4 today, all US pilots finished top 13.
USA leading second place Japan by 10 points and Joseph obviously leading the juniors.

Don is correct. Scores will be posted AS they are entered by the judges. Very similar to the system that Peter Vogel has created for us, but not nearly as sophisticated from a data entry perspective. They will still be using scribes, but the scribes will be using computer notepads and everything will be tabulated instantly.
Here locally we will see score BY MANEUVER posted as they are being flown. Upon completion they will show a total score, BUT…it will be for display purposes only.
The displayed score will have had the highest and lowest score removed for each maneuver. This is ONLY for purposes of providing a score early. Dropping high and low is meant to provide a snapshot as to what might happen after TBL.
Once all four preliminary rounds are in, the will use TBL on ALL scores (meaning they will NOT drop highs or lows) to determine the actually preliminary score.
So while the displayed scores will provide some insight into how people are doing, You won’t really be able to calculate any accurate scores until they are posted on Wednesday.
Still, it should be fun to follow along with.

It should be pretty cool. Each maneuver score will be shown on a big screen TV, then each round score with standings will be "temporarily" posted immediately dropping the high and low judge. Official standings would be posted later after TBL. However the intent is to give a "real time" display to track somewhat representative results Stay tuned. Mark will provide all the details I'm sure. 3rd battery charged... I'm heading over to get some Pizza next door with the team, that is if Joseph has left me some of the one he ordered...

I always find it interesting to follow along with the different teams
during
the worlds. (This week in Zurich) Starts Sunday morning their time.
Practice
fields are interesting some with beautiful scenery and very
narrow runways, 3
or 4 plane wingspans.
Here are a few of the links that I have found to sites
that provide
updated information, some more than others.

Apparently
they will be using some form of electronic scoring that will
provide real or
near real time of scores. Not sure about the details.
Could be fun to
watch
