Very difficult news. My sympathy to all the Wingo family. Very saddened by this.

But glad he will be there for support for his Mom. Sorry I didn't know this pilot. I have a husband/son team of RC'ers and I can only imagine what Austin must be feeling about not flying with his Dad again. Your message was so nicely and informatively written. Most NSRCA members at least know of most of the other members. Maybe not personally. It seems to be quite a large family of people of the same ilk. Prayers and thoughts for his family. This comes from "just" a wife, but over 50 years of being at some field, U-control and/or RC, well, it's a part of this wife's life, too. Karen Lockhart (Wife of Ron/Mom of Dave)

Mike was currently living in the Huntsville, AL area. He and I had become close over the past couple of years, and were planning to have dinner tonite, having spoken earlier today. His son, Austin, also an NSRCA member, had just returned from Afghanistan and drove to Huntsville once he heard about the heart attack. Austin, Austin's wife, Mike's ex-wife, Gary Courtney, and I were together at the hospital when we got the horrible news from the ER doctor. Mike had some health issues, but no indication of heart problems, so this was a complete shock to us all. In fact, Mike had gone to the Eglin contest last weekend with Gary and I.
