Btw, I made a small fixture for soldering all those splices that worked great. Cut a 1" piece of standard size silicone fuel tubing and slice it on one side lengthwise. Then cut a small notch at the halfway point that is big enough to accommodate the tip of your soldering iron. Glue the tubing down with ca to a piece of wood with the slice and notch facing up. Cut all your wires the same length, strip about 1/4" off the ends, twist and tin with solder. Slide a piece of heat shrink over one side of the wire out of the way and then slide the wire into one end of the tubing so that the tinned end is into the notch. Slide the mating wire in from the other end until the tinned end is into the notch and on top of the tinned end of the other wire. Touch the joint with the tip of your iron and add solder if necessary. Let cool and pull the wire up through the slit. Slide the heat shrink over the joint and shrink.

Tim, you are correct. It is the same for 5s packs, different for less than 5s. I made and use the same pigtails you are describing.
