Also very true Keith.. I believe the goal needs to be tempered with do we want to frustrate them and drive them away, or entice them to a challenge that we all agree that they aren't capable of doing yet.!! but they will learn it if they want to.. The how is up to the teacher. The when is up to the student sport flier. I find some sport fliers haven't properly trimmed their plane to be good at drawing straight and levels. All of that can't be done at their first Primer. When they are hooked and see progress in their skill set then they are often hooked for life.. IMHO..

  But there is much truth to what Steve states.. all of your maneuver flow so much easier when you learn to nail the straight and level. Otherwise you are always chasing a correction.
