[NSRCA-discussion] Osiris 47 inch wings needed

Not to turn this into a political discussion but minimum wage and for that
matter all wages are a function of the cost of living. My 2100 square foot
home in Columbus, OH with a 0.65 acre lot would cost $500,000 - $1,000,000
in NY City, LA or San Fran. I would have to make and additional $50,000 -
$100,000 per year to live in those cities and maintain my current standard
of living.

If you're paying someone at McD's $23/hr then your not buying a Big Mac meal
for $5 or a 2M pattern plane for $600 - $1,000.

Minimum wage is around $16.50 down here. Australia is doing OK...The
McDonald's in my area pays $23.50 an hour for flipping hamburgers
(seriously), my 13 yr old son is considering a part time job there as soon
as he turns 14.

Ok, Australia is facing some newer challenges with the economy these
days-but I do seem to remember something about a GFC, we hardly experienced
it for example. Higher wages does not mean life gets worse-it may actually
be far more equitable for society as a whole.

On another note...anyone running the YS 185 yet? I'm getting excited about
flying again.

Best regards

Tom

Well there is a reason why all ARF are built overseas.

And if the minimum wage goes up to $9 or $10/hr it will be even more
difficult.

Is that really true, that the US can't build a good 2M pattern plane and
also be competitively priced?

If it's a 2M what price point does everyone want?

If it's going to be built in the US we can't do it cheap and make it really
good.

I have an idea of what I'd like to design as far as plane but what do you
guys think of size for it?

Yes, Andrew designs extremely well flying airplanes. So I also hope he
comes out with a pattern plane of his own. That would be just wonderful.

I have the same model but no extra wings sorry. They are not carrying the
47" anymore. I also heard no more 62" version either. I bought some extra
wheel pants for the 47 and glad I did.

I know Andrew Jesky is starting his own plane company not sure if that has
something to do with it. I hope he comes out with a pattern plane of his
own.
