On a related note, I'm finally upgrading all my old NiCd/NiMh packs to LiFe. Anybody know of a source for combination charge/balance mount to allow in plane charging, without having to take things apart and dig out the various wires?

Here's a link to the balance port pigtail:

Sounds like it! FMA actually tells you what connectors they are in their instructions, but it's pretty well buried.

That's great information Verne. I have two Turnigy 10XC chargers and tried in vain to find what connector plugged into them. I ended up cutting two of the dual balance boards in half and harvested the connectors from the unused nonJSH-XH sides. Then I made two pigtails by cutting two JST-XH extensions off near the male end and soldered them to the two connectors I'd harvested. It was a LOT of work.

Hi John,
The balance taps into the side of the Cellpro 10S & 10XP are JST PA. You can buy them from Digikey or in pigtail form from FMA. I make my own balance connectors rather than the balance boards which I find cumbersome at best. Hope this helps.

Mike,
What are the connectors on the Cellpro 10 itself. I prefer to make extensions for the 5S JST-XH rather than fight with the balance boards all the time. I seem to have lost that information.
Thanks,
John

Scott your right Power Unlimited Lipos by F3aUnlimited were mostly PQ. Since I took over I've made a decision to switch our newest packs over to JST/XH. It's the most popular since Hobby King uses this plug. Why fight it.
I think it's like Beta versus VHS in the end even Sony started making VHS and Beta was no more.
The balance boards on cellpro chargers are GP/KO (Works with Hobby King JST/XH) and TP/PQ. Works with polyquest and thunder power. We sell a lot of simple adaptors that allow you to use different balancers.
Thanks, Mike

I've used this source successfully to understand the differences:
http://www.hansenhobbies.com/products/connectors/

They are a resource that seems to cover all balance tap types accept those used by Thunder Power and Flight Power.

IIRC the JST-xh and the PQ are the same spacing and wiring order but the PQ has a locking tab. A JST is the little red one on small foamy packs. TP is much smaller.

Is there a functional difference between these balance plug types?
