Bill,

Outlook can handle IMAP, Exchange, or POP3.  You can set it up by using the
wizard contained in Outlook and select IMAP.  If it cannot determine your
settings automatically, you can use the settings from the previous email.
 Gmail can even be imported into Outlook which is helpful for sorting
through all of your folders when your account has gotten rather large.
 Once set up, you can use the Outlook rules to set up multiple folders and
destinations for emails i.e. Set up a folder for "Discussion List" and
create a rule for all emails to go there.
