[NSRCA-discussion] RC Pilot killed

This is so sad, but I'm truly amazed it doesn't happen more often. Though I
don't know what happened in this case, these guys do unbelievable maneuvers
with their heli's and often really close in. Like Ryan said they can change
direction and cover an amazing amount of ground in the blink of an eye.
When these guys go up at our field I always head to the pits for cover.

If you watch the YouTube video that was posted, at the end he lands the
heli on what appears to be a table just a couple of feet in front of
himself and two friends while they are seated. The rotor level is right
about in line with their heads. Fixed wing pilots often stress staying out
of the plane of the prop in case something comes off or breaks free, which
I'd think would happen less often on planes than on heli's which have
blades that hinge. However, the very nature of heli flight frequently puts
the person in the same plane as the rotor.

Very sad, but it won't be the last.
