[NSRCA-discussion] Zippy 5S pack weight findings

Bob,
I just got three sets of Compacts. Did you break them in at all before blasting into the full pattern? The jury seems split on whether to do a break-in or not, except the TP and PU folks seem religious about it.

I also just got a set of new Zippy 20C/5000 "regulars", and two of the three are pretty much toast after about 10 flights. My plane maxes out at about 65 amps during the Masters, so I'll not beating the horse.

Thanks,

John

I only have a couple of cycles on them. The power is fine, I have way too much with any of the packs :)

I keep track of the cycles and report later in  the season.

Bob, what has been your experience with the Zippy Compact packs?  How do they hold up?

I own two different types of Zippy lipo packs, all 5000mAH, 5S, 25C. I have 4 older copies of the "regular" pack, 4 copies of the Zippy Compact , and 2 new copies of the regular pack.  I was getting the newest set ready to use and noticed they seemed heavier than the older packs.  I compared them, and found the new packs to be made up of slightly thicker cells and the wires were heavier gauge. I weighed them all, and these are the results:

Old Zippy 25C:   640g/pack (45.2 oz total for two packs)
New Zippy 25C:  690g/pack (48.7 oz total for two packs)
Zippy Compact 25C:  600g/pack (42.3 oz total for two packs)

The HK website shows the weight of the regular 25C pack as 640g, they must not have not checked the new stock.
