I wait until trash pickup day, cut off plugs I want to save, then dump em in the big can! The compactor at the landfill will finish them off.

I take all batteries to a recycle center.  They told me that they will take care in any conditions.  Looks like makes more sense to recycle.

I basically slowly discharge the pack with a series of tail light bulbs. Has anyone had issues with the electrodes being eaten away when put in salt water? As I understand, if there is a charge left in the cells, the nickel tabs will corrode away leaving the cells still charged but without a way to discharge them. Thus, it id important to fully discharge the cells to 0 volts before putting them in salt water. Haven't run into this but would like to know if anyone else has.

I think that Best Buy also will take them.  Their local stores here have bins at the entrances.

Same here. I dropped off a pretty sizeable bag of spent lipos at Radio Shack and they just took them with no questions asked.

I took in about six 5S packs with the leads cut and taped and explained that they were hobby batteries and I did not know if they were charged or not (I know some had a partial charge).  He looked in the box and said "no problem".  He took my box and I left...

A lot easier than any method I have seen on the web...seems like a good choice for those of us that live near enough to civilization (aguable??) to have a retail store within a reasonable distance....
