Of course, if the 1/4 rolls were opposite of each other, you'd also end up going the wrong direction! Doh!

Here's the official description from the FAI rules:

F-13.11 Clown Dance with ½ loop, inverted spin, 2½ turns, consecutive two ¼ rolls down
>From upright, pull through a ½ loop into a horizontal line, perform an inverted spin with 2½ turns, perform a vertical
downline, perform consecutively two ¼ rolls, pull through a ¼ loop, exit upright.

Says nothing about direction of the 1/4 rolls vs. the spin direction, so that has to be optional. The description does not say the 1/4 rolls are opposite each other, so they are in the same direction. The aresti also shows them in the same direction.

The rules also say this:

Lines between consecutive part-rolls must be short and of equal length. Between consecutive
continuous rolls or part-rolls in opposite direction there must be no line.

So as I read it, since the part rolls are consecutive, they must have a line between them. Only if they were opposite would there be no line.

Now Jon Carter will probably come into this and rip my analysis apart!!

Clown dance question in F13
Of course the first question should be who gave it that name and why.

Real question: Are the 2 1/4 rolls after the spin in the same
direction, opposite direction or does it matter? Should there be a
straight line between the rolls or instantaneous like the spin reversals?
