Ryan, I know this for a fact.  I'm not saying they do it in all cases but they will do it if asked.

I doubt they would do it for me.  I'm not complaining.  I don't want to pay extra for this extra attention.

The point is, such a request shouldn't be necessary if all these kits easily made weight.  Which they don't.

I know when a top pilot places an order with a kit manufacturers that kit manufacturer will go the extra mile to make sure that plane is built better (lighter, etc.) than the standard run of planes.  That may mean taking extra time to weight contest balsa, etc.  I'm OK with that but it could mean that not all the kits manufactured will make weight.

Do you know this for a fact? Or is this an assumption/hearsay?

I've weighed items for an airplane built for Quique, and the weights weren't out of range for other airplanes of the same type built for anybody else.

The issue as I see it isn't necessarily about cost.

I want to buy a new legal 2M airplane or a used legal 2M airplane without having to ask the question: Does it make weight?

How many building threads have you read on RC Universe where they start off by weighing all of the components.  What is the point?  Well the builder wants to prove to the reader that this kit is light and will make weight.

If we raise or eliminate the weight rule then we all won't have to worry about the weight issue as much.
