Yeah, I'm one who will echo what Jon wrote. I had rotator cuff injury and repair within the last year and, after suffering constant pain for many months before relief came, I cannot fathom what it must have been like for Lamar to have endured it for years.

Lamar never failed to help us fly better, constantly critiquing us, and if we listened, we flew better. He also helped us keep our planes in the air. After a prop broke in the air on my Aggressor, and the front end of the plane exploded, he took it home and repaired it like new, even though he hadn't built the plane in the first place. He was just like that. He found a field near his home in Decatur, AL, where we could fly early in the mornings in the heat of summer, and get in all of the practice and critiquing we could stand. He didn't have a lot, but he was always willing to share what he had.

Doctors and surgeons kept trying to help him, but unfortunately, nothing seemed to help He finally had to stop flying when he couldn't bend his neck enough to watch the plane without a lot of pain. He always intended to return to pattern, but as things worsened, he stopped returning calls, and dropped out of sight. Fortunately, his long time friend and business partner, Jerry Stebbins, kept us informed from time to time.
