This whole thing has devolved into something unfortunate.
Ron, I believe you acted with good intentions, but the rule, as has been pointed out, is clear. However, I think you have been chastised more than enough.
The overall reaction, although there is no rule against that, has been IMHO excessive. C'mon, guys, does anyone think Ron wasn't acting as a pattern dude wanting to help others? There are probably not too many people here that have done as much to promote this hobby for as long as he has.
When I was active in pattern, it was the camaraderie that I looked forward to, not the banter of rules and "I'm going to take my ball and go home". When did things change?
JMHO.

I was trying to help out pilots who were having trouble getting their airplanes below the 5000 gram limit that will be rigorously enforced at the Nats. The tremendous weight saving of using the Falcon CF props could help them a lot. I also thought the widespread use of Falcon CF props at the Nats would boost everyones' sales of Falcon props. I should not have mentioned the price.
However, due to the adverse reaction which has erupted, I will no longer be bringing Falcon props to the Nats to sell.

It looked to me more like a pattern dude trying to help fellow pilots than an "ad" for a retailer. Just MHO...
