Thanks for the input on the scale.  I found one that weighs 6000 g and accurate to 1 g.

I use an Ohaus 5000g digital scale that is accurate to 1g, but I prefer to weigh each wheel separately and add up the weights since almost all scales are more generally accurate in the mid-range. That way, I get the two mains at roughly 4 lbs 10ozs and the tailwheel at a little over a pound. 

The trick is to keep the plane level by replacing the scale with a block of exactly the same height at each wheel. 

 

Same technique I use on full-scale.

The scales need to have a greater than 5000 gram capability because the scales stop measuring when they get to their limit and most pilots use a stand to hold their airplanes when they are being weighed.
