[NSRCA-discussion] Drilling a hole

Power driving a reamer in metal without cooling will do it in pretty fast. Not a problem (at low speed) with composite props and easier to keep straight. Rotating a reamer counterclockwise is bad, always rotate it forward (clockwise) even if by hand.

I don't think reamers are ment to use in a power drill press unless you turned by hand. That is old school so I could be wrong.

That metric reamer is what I use. Quick and easy and I use it on a drill press

Tower sells a nice metric reamer that's perfect for 8 & 10mm prop holes. Much better than the Fox. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEGH6&P=ML
(Twist drills aren't really the way to go - drill press or not.)

Keith,
Silence....I kill you!
Warm and loving regards,
Scott
PS - So I guess I should have said "Do I start with a drill bit slightly larger than the EXISTING hole...." Good grief man. Don't make any grammatical errors around Mr. Hoard. :) Thanks guys, I'll start with the reamer and get to 10mm. I just wasn't sure if the carbon props required a certain delicacy that isn't required when doing APCs.

Yeah, that's probably true.. When I cut a piece of wood off too short, no matter how many more times I cut it, it's still too short.

I'd recommend starting with a SLIGHTLY SMALLER drill bit and then working your way to larger sizes . . . .

You may find it doesn't work so well trying to drill a smaller hole starting with a larger one . . .
.
But things may work differently in Texas . . .<330.gif>

Do you start at a size slightly larger than the diameter of the whole and then work my way up to 10mm for the Neu motor?. . .
