Is there still time to put that in as a rules proposal?

So what happens when someone forgets to pull their arming plug . . . add another arming plug?

So he should have been straddling the tail….and….everyone knows to unplug the battery before the radio is turned off.
I mentioned earlier that the rx COULD be turned off first and the motor is not SUPPOSED to start and that I trusted the electronics more than I trust someone holding the transmitter…..BUT….someone always has a grip on the airplane before any of this happens.
So…this instance boils down to operator error even if the ESC did fail in this way….I’m not convinced that it really did.
The Emcotec device is so much overkill….and liable to fail as well.
If I was to use a disconnect I would do it as Simon pointed out….let’s say the black wire from the ESC and the black wire from the battery is all that needs to be outside the fuselage. Then, connect or disconnect as needed….no shorting plug, no extra weight, nothing to pull a chunk out of the fuselage….no expense.
Even still though….I would have to rewire all the batteries and chargers….doable but time consuming.

Just relistened to the host's description of what happened (it was his plane) -- I was wrong on one detail, he wasn't straddling the tail when he turned off the RX. It did scare the **** out of him and he counted himself very lucky that no one was hurt. Point being, he relied on electronics which had performed exactly as advertised 100s of times until the one time they didn't. I don't like those odds.
Some would argue my preferred arming switch (The Emcotec safety power switch seen here: http://www.hkm-models.com/Emcotec%20Switches.html) does the same thing and I should use a more traditional circuit interrupting jumper ala the options Keith listed and I sent out a similar list a little before that but it would take the simultaneous failure of multiple independent components for that to happen.

The All Things that Fly episode was from a few shows before the show that has 'switches' in the title from late last year. www.allthingsthatfly.com
Bay RC, photo is on there from several years ago, subject is something like 'they're not always cute + cuddly'. I don't have time to hunt down the link anymore than you do, apparently, but I'm not challenging your credibility.
