There has been great improvement in silencers, both 2 stroke & 4 stroke
(LOL). SPA does not allow (noisy) pipes either!

Cool! I love the old planes. I just discovered that there was an event right
in my home state of Connecticut! If this happens again next year it looks
like my old Kaos may fly again.

 

Just one thing I'm a bit confused about however: I thought the reason why we
stopped flying the old / loud / ballistic planes was because they had such a
high noise footprint. It was felt that this would cause the loss of flying
fields. The "solution" was to move towards the turnaround patterns and the
big, quiet, slow(er), 2-meter, pregnant guppy airplanes (which is what we
did). Why is it OK to fly fast, make lots of noise and require lots of
airspace again?

Hi All,
 
Here is a slideshow, year in review for the CPA contests.   Many of the
contest where combo AMA/CPA.  In 2012 CPA had 18 events coast to coast.
Breakout the old planes and have fun in 2013.
