[NSRCA-discussion] Hacker C50-14XL comp/Castle 80HV Ice 2 combo "backfiring"

A few years ago I bought a Hakko 936 soldering station. It is "only" 65
watts, but it can quickly and easily solder 10 gauge wire all day long.
Warm up time is about 1 minute from switching on.

The key to soldering big stuff is the "heat recovery" ability of the
soldering iron. The Hakko has a ceramic element in the tip of the
soldering iron that acts as a heat governor while soldering to always
maintain the preset temp on the dial. As soon as you put the tip on
anything that draws heat away (wire, wet sponge) the power LED on the front
starts blinking showing you it is sending more juice to the tip. Equally
important is that the tip cools down when you're not using it so the silver
coating on the tip doesn't oxidize. I still have the original tip on my
Hakko.

I have a 100W soldering gun that can't even begin to keep up with the Hakko
soldering station, so more power isn't always better.
