I only met him a couple of times and liked him. We are fortunate for all he
had done for us all.

Subject: Re: [NSRCA-discussion] Ed Hartley

Gentlemen:

Ed Hartley was one of my very best friends, and a constant Flying Buddy.
His influence on my late-starting pattern flying was immense. His
contributions to NSRCA and pattern in general have been noted by others on
this list. He has made an even greater contribution to the Senior Pattern
Association, serving as Board member, acting as webmaster and discussion
list supervisor for a long time. He was a founding member of Knox County
R/C Society, Inc., and was a continual supporter of KCRC until the last. We
flew in an SPA contest here @ KCRC just last weekend. Ed did not fly his
best, but still won. I had the privilege of calling for him (and vice
versa) at that contest. I will miss him tremendously...

Here are the details of his memorial service that I posted to KCRC and SPA
discussion lists, in case anyone is interested:

The memorial service is set for 1:00pm, EDT, Saturday, June 4, 2011 at

Concord United Methodist Church
11020 Roane Drive
Knoxville, TN 37934-2998

I don't have GPS coordinates for the church, but the street address will get
you there. If you drive along I-40/75, take exit 374 (Lovell Rd.), and go
south -- if coming from the west, you could take Exit 373 (Campbell Station
Rd.), but the Lovell Rd. exit looks closer, to me, and it is easier to drive
on an interstate, than on Kingston Pike in K-town.

If you want a local map, please email me directly.
